Record Scores, Real Growth: Our 2025–26 Exam Results

2026-09-02

As we step into a new academic year, our schools are once again full of energy, purpose and possibility. It is also a timely opportunity to celebrate our pupils' achievements in the 2025–26 examination season. Across our group, pupils delivered outstanding results in the IB Diploma Programme, A Level and IGCSE—outcomes that reflect their hard work, the continuing dedication of their teachers and the unwavering support of their parents. For families considering our schools, these results offer more than academic reassurance: they show the strength of a shared partnership and a consistent pathway of challenge, care and preparation that helps pupils grow with confidence.

IB

Our IB results this year are the strongest in our group's history. Graduates from our IB schools achieved a group-wide average score of 38.6, well above the global average of 30.9, alongside a 100% pass rate. This places both  Wellington College International Shanghai and Hiba Academy Shanghai well above the IB global average and among the highest-achieving international and bilingual schools worldwide.

Nearly half of our pupils (48%) achieved a total score of 40 or above, and one pupil attained the perfect score of 45. Adding to this year's distinction, 100% of Hiba Academy Shanghai's 2026 graduates were awarded a bilingual diploma, an impressive designation that certifies advanced proficiency in two languages. These results provide a strong foundation as this cohort now heads to top universities around the world.

A Level

This year's A Level outcomes show both strength and momentum across Wellington College Education (China) schools in Tianjin and Hangzhou, as well as Hiba Academy Nantong. At the top end, A* grades made up 32% of all grades awarded, representing a five-percentage-point increase on last year. High attainment was sustained across the cohort, with 62% of all grades at A*–A and 81% at A*–B.

Beyond the headline figures, we are especially proud of pupils who achieved top grades in every paper they sat. This year, 20 pupils—27% of the cohort—achieved a clean sweep of A*/A grades, an accomplishment that reflects exceptional discipline, focus and drive.

There were standout subject results too. Chinese Language and Literature achieved a 100% A*/A rate, while Further Mathematics recorded 82% A*/A—results that reflect both pupils' academic depth and the strength of subject teaching at our schools.

IGCSE

Our IGCSE results provide an excellent springboard into the year ahead, building on last year's already strong performance. A* grades accounted for 34% of all grades awarded group-wide, while the proportion of A*–A grades rose to 66%, four percentage points higher than last year.

Especially notable is the number of pupils achieving top grades across the full breadth of their subjects. This year, 58 pupils secured A*/A in all subjects, an achievement that speaks to outstanding consistency, disciplined study habits and the confidence to perform across a wide curriculum.

These outcomes form part of a much bigger picture: the skills, character and values our pupils build throughout their time with us. At each stage of the academic journey, these results reflect not only strong examination performance, but also growing confidence, resilience and a global outlook that will support pupils as they progress through school and, ultimately, into universities and communities around the world.

Congratulations to all our pupils, and thank you to the teachers and families across the group whose guidance and partnership made these achievements possible. We wish everyone a rewarding year ahead.
