As a trained coach, I was able to start spreading my influence beyond my current role and make an impact across the entire Wellington College Education (China) group. I also started thinking about a career as a consultant, trainer and education adviser. What I like most about being a coach is that I have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others by helping them achieve their goals and reach their full potential. I would highly recommend the coaching programme to colleagues who are looking to reflect on their leadership skills and step up to senior leadership roles.
We personalise professional development for all staff by:
• Working with them to understand their strengths, aspirations and career goals
• Providing internal opportunities to help them develop and grow in their current role through personalised professional development
• Providing internal and external support to help them develop and grow towards their aspired roles.
• Tracking progress through our appraisal process
• Coaching and mentoring programmes.
We offer continuing professional development programmes that provide paths for middle, senior and high-potential leaders. Through these programmes, we identify, support and develop existing and aspiring leaders within the organisation. Nearly 40% of all Wellington employees who have participated in these programmes have already been promoted within the group. Moreover, 60% of all participants have identified clear career trajectories at Wellington and are being developed into these future leadership roles.
Wellington College Education (China) offers a world-class range of programmes that promote professional development in a wide variety of areas. These range from academics and teaching methodologies to leadership and team building as well as cultural awareness and non-academic areas like finance and public speaking. Employees may also pursue their NPQLT certification or receive support in completing masters degrees or teacher training qualifications.
Coaching is central to professional development at Wellington College Education (China). All senior leaders are supported by external, professional coaches who help them achieve their goals. In addition, we provide coaching training, which has enabled many senior leaders to become coaches themselves. As a result, they now mentor aspiring and high-potential leaders within the group.
