We are delighted to share some fantastic news. All six schools in the Wellington College Education (China) family have once again been recognised in the 2025 Forbes China International Schools Annual Selection. This marks another year of outstanding achievement, dedication and expertise across our campuses in Tianjin, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nantong.

 

The Forbes China International Schools Annual Selection is one of the most respected reviews in the country. It covers a huge range of bilingual and international schools, looking at everything from academic results and teaching quality to international accreditation and innovative approaches to education.

This year, over 3,000 schools and departments were assessed using 40 different metrics. Only those who truly stand out make the list, so being recognised is no small feat. These rankings are a valuable reference for families looking for the very best in international education.

Wellington College International Shanghai is now ranked second in China—a remarkable achievement. Wellington College International Tianjin holds 15th place, while Wellington College International Hangzhou is 23rd. 

In the bilingual category, Hiba Academy Shanghai impressed everyone by securing a place among the top 10 nationwide.

Wellington College International Shanghai took the top spot among international middle schools – our best result yet. Wellington College International Hangzhou also delivered a strong performance. 

Hiba Academy Shanghai jumped to fourth place among bilingual middle schools, with Nantong and Hangzhou Hiba Academies also making the list.

Wellington College International Shanghai is now second in China for international primary schools, with Tianjin and Hangzhou also in the top 20.

Hiba Academies in Shanghai, Nantong and Hangzhou all featured in the bilingual primary school rankings, highlighting our strength in bilingual education.

Our Early Years settings—including Wellington College Bilingual Tianjin Nursery, Wellington College International Shanghai Early Years Centre and Hiba Academy Nurseries in Shanghai and Hangzhou—were all recognised for excellence in early childhood education.

These rankings are about more than just numbers. They reflect the real experiences and futures of our pupils. For example:

• Pupils from Wellington College Tianjin and Wellington College International Shanghai continue to receive offers from the world’s top universities like Oxford and Cambridge year after year.

• The first graduating class at Hiba Academy Shanghai made history with our group’s first offer from Stanford University (one of the US’s celebrated HYPSM universities). Additionally, they have received offers from other top-tier universities worldwide, including the University of Oxford, Brown University, the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Hong Kong.

• Wellington College Education (China) - Hangzhou’s second graduating class set a new record for US university admissions, including places at UCLA.

Notably, Hiba Academy Nantong, founded only three years ago, has secured its position on the list for the second time, emerging as the fastest-advancing member within the group. We look forward to congratulating their inaugural graduating class next year.
