Our Campus

The College is located on an approximately 74,000 sq.m. site in the Xiaoshan district of Hangzhou, some twenty minutes by car from the commercial centre of the city and thirty minutes from the international airport or train station.

In keeping with the Wellington College commitment to a holistic education, Wellington College International Hangzhou is situated on a purpose built, state-of-the-art campus containing all of the facilities required to provide pupils with access to the very best academic and co-curricular opportunities. The appearance and design of the building is inspired by the distinctive architecture at Wellington College in England.

The science laboratories, the art rooms and the design technology suites are designed, first and foremost, to encourage an enjoyment in both practical and theoretical work. They are also capable of creating that extra level of creativity and ambition that great scientists, artists and designers strive for and achieve.

At the very heart of the school, geographically and academically, is the College library. Its focus is books and encouraging a love of reading, but it is also a multi-media centre for pupils, promoting independent study. For all Wellingtonians, the library is a learning resource designed to generate a meaningful interest in, indeed love of, reading and research.

The Performing Arts Centre caters for our musicians, dancers and thespians, with dedicated practice rooms, the dance studio, the Black Box and, for major concerts and productions, the 560-seat College Theatre; also the venue for school assemblies.

Sport is another major Wellington priority. Here, the facilities are second to none, with the sports hall, football pitch, a 400-metre all weather synthetic running track, indoor basketball and badminton courts, and two swimming pools, including a 25 metre, six-lane competition pool. Few schools in the world are blessed with the resources available at Wellington, all designed to support our wide-ranging co-curricular activities programme, both after school and at weekends.
