Boarding is a longstanding tradition at Wellington College in England, and it is upheld by several Wellington College Education (China) schools. We are committed to providing pupils with a high-quality experience in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment. Our boarding teams are staffed with professional educators dedicated to the physical and mental wellbeing of each pupil, ensuring their holistic growth and development. As a result, our boarders learn to be more independent and self-reliant as they explore their interests and broaden their horizons.

Daily Life of Boarding Pupils

The following schedule of activities is subject to the actual teaching situation of each school

Get up. Younger pupils will receive one-on-one help.

·   Full Boarding (Monday-Sunday, 24/7)

·   Weekly Boarding (Monday-Friday)

·   Day Boarding (Optional on Weekends)

Boarding gives our pupils a head start and is excellent preparation for university life, with pupils learning to live independently and manage their studies effectively.

Our extracurricular activities, such as sports, music, drama, and art, allow pupils to explore and develop their interests outside of their normal academic activities, thus enhancing their well-being and providing much-needed downtime during the academic week.

Pupils learn to manage their time effectively, balancing academic work, extracurricular activities, and social life.

Pupils build character and learn self-reliance as they form lifelong friendships with their fellow boarders. Communication, connectivity, and life skills are essential development skills needed in the 21st century.

Being away from home and family teaches pupils to cope with change and navigate an ever-changing world. As they age, boarders have opportunities for leadership roles in the House, working with younger boarders to cultivate positive habits and qualities.

Our boarding provision offers a rigorous academic curriculum and provides pupils with an environment that fosters academic excellence.

Holidays and weekends spent together as a family are even more special.

They can concentrate on work and other tasks knowing that their child is in a safe and nurturing environment 24/7.

Parents spend less time commuting to and from school.

Start of Boarding Life

What are the advantages of boarding life at Wellington College Education (China) school?

Jane Ma
Head of Boarding,Hiba Academy Nantong
Boarding life is an extension of the holistic education at Hiba Academy Nantong and we encourage our boarders to appreciate the Hiba values. It engenders team spirit, helps the children learn to accept each other's failings and to support each other in times of difficulty. Boarders learn to respect others, the importance of being kind and courteous and taking responsibility for one's own actions.  The spiritual development of our boarders is also an important part of our ethos; in an increasingly individualistic world, these qualities stand our boarders in good stead.

Meanwhile, boarders explore their potential and interests with passion and enthusiasm through a wide range of activities in the boarding house. They learn by living with peers from across the country and develop life-long friendships. They discover important life skills in the process. Best of all, some of the most memorable, positive, and fun experiences happen within the boarding house!

Our children thrive in a vibrant, comfortable and safe environment with outstanding care and nurturing.  It is a genuine ''Home Away From Home'' to our boarders.

Academic Journey

How does Wellington College Education (China) school support you to develop holistically and thrive happily?

Tony
Hiba Academy Shanghai
I really love debate, and it has changed me a lot. You spend a lot of time carefully crafting your arguments on a given topic. But debates also require a lot of preparation, and this has taught me how to work better as a member of a team. Hiba has provided me with ample opportunities for learning and practice.

Stepping into the Future

How has the Wellington College Education (China) experience helped you in your university and career?

Daniel
Class of 2020 Wellington College International Shanghai
I've been in Wellington since the very beginning as a founding member. It's a fantastic experience to see how the school has grown from a very small population to such a big community now. One thing I always felt about Wellington is that it is always a bonded family to me. People here are more than just friends.  Whenever I come back here, it always makes me feel very good, like home does. The teachers and staff here also helped me become who I am today — independent, open-minded, organised and to be able to express my opinions clearly. I think these are the skills I can take on from Wellington to my life in the future.
