A Safe Wellington Campus Embraces Spring

As China gradually recovers from the COVID-19 outbreak, the Senior Leadership Team and non-academic teams at Wellington College Hangzhou have returned to their beloved school and resumed working on campus this week.

The school has and continues to invest time in ensuring that we have the necessary plans ready. Our disease prevention team has implemented a specialised COVID-19 prevention manual for the school and deployed assignments accordingly. All these efforts are meant to ensure the health and safety of our pupils and staff once the school reopens.

We have installed an infrared thermometer at the school entrance, and our security guards will request that anyone entering the school registers upon arrival and presents their Hangzhou health code to be checked. This is our school’s first line of defense against COVID-19.

To maintain a healthy and safe working environment, the school clinic has already distributed a COVID-19 prevention manual to all staff and also provided two masks per day for each returning staff member. Staff are encouraged to wear masks when there are multiple people working in the same office and are also encouraged to reduce the frequency of gatherings.

The school canteen provides packed meals during this special time. For the sake of food safety and hygiene, dining tables are set one metre apart from one another to avoid close contact.

The school’s sanitation team has been cleaning and disinfecting the campus three times a day since the beginning of COVID-19. Staff are advised to open their windows more often to increase airflow. In crowded and closed areas such as lifts, we encourage the use of tissues and other measures to avoid possible cross-infection.

Preventing and controlling COVID-19 is something we must all work together to achieve. Flowers and trees are blooming as spring is in the air, and we cannot wait to see each other again at an even more beautiful Wellington College Hangzhou campus.

Please be reminded that our team remains in place and ready to be contacted at any time. Below is a list of useful contacts, should you need to communicate with the school.
