Joined Wellington College International Tianjin in August 2017
I was convinced that a move to Wellington was right for me after meeting the Master of Wellington College International Tianjin at a job fair in Shanghai. He talked about all the opportunities offered at the school, and it was immediately clear that this was a trusting and supportive environment. I knew that this would be a great opportunity for me to develop my skills as a teacher.
A few weeks after I joined Wellington, I was put through a TESMC programme that helped me improve my provision for EAL students. In my second year, I studied for my PGCE at Durham University while still working full time. Last year, I organised a school safari trip to Kenya. I will be starting my new role as the coordinator of the science department’s KS3 program and junior school outreach when we go back to school in August.
Joining Wellington three years ago was a big achievement for me. I worked hard and was encouraged to try new things, make mistakes and improve my teaching. The kids here are fantastic, and I particularly enjoy working with our scholars – some of the best students from local schools.
