There will be an important sense of routine about boarding life at Wellington, which in itself will help promote that essential self-discipline amongst our students. The boarders will get up from 7.00am, and then head over to the main school building, where they will be based for the duration of the school day. Breakfast will take place in the Cafeteria between 7.45am and 8.25am. They will then follow the school day along with all the day students, starting with Registration in House Rooms at 8.30am. Lessons end at 3.30pm, with After School Activities until 4.45pm. Additional activities or optional academic sessions will then run until supper, which will be served between 6.30pm and 7.15pm. Homework, or ‘Prep’, will be run in the boarding house from 7.30pm to 9.00pm, followed by free time, and then by a series of ‘lights-out’ times for the various age groups.
Life is very full at Wellington for boarders. Besides academic development, the boarding experience is designed to give the greatest opportunities possible for students to further their ability and interest in sports, music, drama and, indeed, all forms of self-expression. But the essence of boarding life at Wellington centres on the house and its inclusive nature, where boys and girls, of all ages, and of course, staff too, are thoroughly involved in their own community. Wellingtonian boarders will thus develop in an environment that is friendly, stimulating, sociable but structured.
Full boarders will be automatically enrolled and required to participate in our Saturday Activity Programme, a wide-ranging series of activities open to all Wellington pupils. Full details of the actual activities on offer vary from term to term, and will be published separately.

Weekly boarders will return home on Friday evening, and come back to the boarding house on Sunday evening. Full boarders however will stay at the school over the weekend. On Saturdays, full boarders are required to take part in our wide-ranging Saturday Activity Programme. On Sundays, after a full and very busy week at school, there are no formally organized activities, and pupils are given free time to relax or catch up with work; the Housemasters will often organize informal outings or activities for full boarders on Sundays.
