Ewan McCallum

Ewan joins us from an international school in Washington D.C where he undertook the roles of head of humanities and latterly head of professional learning. It is the International Baccalaureate that initially drew him to international education, and he has taught history, theory of knowledge and global politics to this level. Before pursuing international education, Ewan took up his first post at John O’Gaunt School in Hungerford, Berkshire where he was head of history and head of year 11. Born and bred in Glasgow, Ewan completed his undergraduate degree in history at the University of Strathclyde followed by an MPhil at the University of Manchester. It is here that he also began his teaching career, completing a PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2008. Throughout his time as an educational practitioner, Ewan also graduated with an MA in education from the University of Nottingham.

Ewan has a huge passion from travel, other cultures and cuisines; as an undergraduate he made copious amounts of coffee between lectures and saved hard to spend his summers travelling the world, something he still loves to do. During his spare time he enjoys paddle sports, especially kayaking, keeping fit, reading, music and exploring his new home, Shanghai!
