Carlene Wright

Prior to teaching, Carlene was a Hydrogeologist and enjoyed drilling for ground water and managing large groundwater drought programmes across the Midlands and the South of England. After several years of consultancy work, she decided she wanted to do something even more worthwhile and retrained as a teacher. She feels she has joined the best profession in the world. She has more than seven years Primary teaching experience in the UK and Qatar. Carlene is delighted to be joining Year 1 at Wellington College Shanghai.

Carlene studied Geology at the University of Southampton and completed a Masters in Hydrogeology at the University of Birmingham in the UK. She then went on to complete her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Portsmouth University.

When not teaching, Carlene and her husband, also a teacher at the school, are kept busy with their two young daughters, who now also attend Wellington College International Shanghai. Carlene is extremely excited by the move to Shanghai, to enjoy what Shanghai and China as a whole have to offer. She has already enjoyed travelling, with her girls in back-packs, across some parts of Asia and looks forward to discovering more of this part of the world.
