Adam Shaw

Adam has been part of the Wellington College International journey from the very start, back in August 2011, having been a founding member of staff at our sister school in Tianjin; before moving to Shanghai in September 2013 as part of the start-up team for Wellington College International Shanghai.

Adam set up the boarding programme and ran the house from August 2014 to April 2016. In addition, he was the head of art, design and technology during the first year and housemaster of Stanley until June 2016. Adam is now in his second year as deputy head pastoral of the Senior School.

He studied industrial design and the University of Central Lancashire, before heading to his ‘spiritual home’ to study for his PGCE at Manchester University. Adam’s first teaching post was at Aquinas Sixth Form College in Stockport, where he enjoyed seven fantastic years as a teacher of product design and latterly was responsible for the A Level curriculum.

Before moving to China, Adam spent three years in the Middle East as head of design and technology at Repton School in Dubai, where he took great pride in his department’s successes at both IGCSE and IB level. This post also offered Adam his first insight into the world of boarding and the independent school house system and it was here that he decided to pursue a pastoral role in future schools.
