Co-Curricular Activities Programme

Wellington Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programme provides an exciting opportunity for Wellington pupils to explore new activities, cultivate new interests and develop a variety of skills. Within each School of the College, the activities are run for pupils across the range of year groups allowing our pupils to connect and make friends with children of different ages. From Year 3 onwards, CCAs form an integral and compulsory part of the school day. The annual tuition fees include participation in the CCA programme (save for a small number of activities for which there is a minimal charge).

Pre-Prep Co-Curricular Activities

CCAs run on Tuesdays and Thursday from 3:45pm-4:45pm and are optional for pupils in Years 1 and 2. CCA choices for Michaelmas Term 2016

PREP & SENIOR SCHOOLS

The CCA programme incorporates Physical, Creative and Academic elements.

CCAs

Our aim is to offer high quality sessions run by staff with a passion for their activity. Pupils will be offered a balanced option of physical and creative activities each day during the first CCA slot. Please note that pupils should bear in mind the Wellington Aptitudes when selecting their CCAs, and pick a broad range of activities from the Physical and Creative options.

During the Academic block pupils will be involved in one of three aspects:

  • Prep session – These will be held in the house/form rooms and will be run by tutors which will encourage greater pastoral contact time. This will also create a better working environment so that pupils can be productive in getting their prep done. It is expected that pupils work in silence.
  • Enrichment – The sessions are meant as an exciting opportunity to take their level of understanding beyond that of the specification and challenge them. Pupils will be invited to attend by the Heads of Department.
  • Support – Those deemed in need of academic support will be invited to attend.

Lower Prep (Years 3-5) Co-Curricular Activities

SPECIAL NOTE TO YEAR 3 PARENTS
Year 3 are making an important transition from the Pre-Prep and we are mindful of the more challenging and demanding educational curriculum they are following. For this reason, it is not compulsory for Year 3 pupils to participate in CCAs every day. Monday and Wednesday will be optional days for Year 3 to participate in CCAs. On these days, they will have a small selection of low impact, quiet time activities which are clearly signaled with an asterisk (*) as being those activities suitable for Year 3. They should not select from any other activities on these days. On Tuesday and Thursday they will have the full range of the Lower Prep activities available to them.
