Alba has been a member of the Catalan Psychological Society since 2003 and is a qualified teacher. She graduated in psychology from the University of Barcelona with a specialism in education and also studied a postgraduate diploma in child psychology in one of the most reputable children’s hospitals in Spain, diagnosing and assessing children and young adults in its mental health units.
Alba has broad experience working in international schools as a SEN coordinator and counsellor. She has also worked for more than 10 years in multi-cultural environments in a wide range of countries including the UK, China and Spain, in both mainstream and special schools, as well as volunteering in public schools in Nicaragua. She is always committed to being involved with all aspects of human development within educational environments. Alba values the importance of working towards children’s global development to help them achieve maximum personal growth in order to prepare them for adulthood and life outside the school environment in a complex and globalised world.
Amongst her interests, Alba enjoys travelling and exploring cities, trying new food – in particular spicy dishes – and listening to a wide selection of musical genres.
Pippa is the College Librarian at Wellington College International Shanghai, having previously held the same post at the College’s sister school in Tianjin. Before she became a successful and inspirational librarian, Pippa’s career was in the film industry, where she achieved considerable success as a children’s casting director. Amongst the films she cast are ‘Billy Elliot’, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, ‘Nanny McPhee’ and ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’. She brings to Shanghai an instinctive rapport with children and a warm sense of humour, qualities which make the library a welcoming, genial and inspiring space. Plus, of course, she knows a lot about books, indeed everything that goes into making a 21st-century library!
