Another year of outstanding exam results for our pupils!

Wellington College China pupils have once again amazed us with a spectacular showing in the 2024 IB, A Level and IGCSE exams. Their remarkable achievements under the dedicated guidance of our talented teachers underscore our relentless pursuit of academic excellence.

 

The IB Diploma Programme has long been recognised for its rigorous academic standards. This year, five pupils scored over 40 points, placing them among the global elite of IB candidates. Our pupils’ average IB score was an impressive 37.1, far surpassing the global average of 30.3.

Eight pupils earned bilingual diplomas. Seven pupils achieved full marks in the IB Core components: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). Additionally, in group 2 languages, every pupil earned a grade of 6 or higher. These remarkable results highlight an impressive mastery of the subject matter, not to mention the discipline and resilience it takes to excel at this very demanding curriculum. 

Among our pupils who sat A Level exams, 25% of all grades achieved were A*, while 58% of the grades were A*/A. Four pupils achieved A* in all their subjects, highlighting their hard work and exceptional abilities. In English Literature, every pupil received an A* or A grade. Results for the Chinese language exam were equally impressive, with 96% of the pupils achieving A*/A. Also, 77% of our pupils earned top marks in Further Mathematics.

Our 15- and 16-year-old pupils also demonstrated their academic talents with commendable IGCSE results. An incredible 75% of grades earned were A*/A, with over 20% of pupils achieving A* or A grades in all subjects. The languages departments had an exceptional year as well, with 100% of pupils earning A*/A grades in French, Spanish and Foreign Language Chinese. In the sciences, 91% of our pupils achieved A*/A grades in Physics, and 89% of pupils did so in Chemistry.
