It was a stimulating summer for Wellington and Hiba pupils
This summer, pupils from across the Wellington College Education group were able to immerse themselves in enriching camp experiences. These programmes offered countless opportunities for our children to gain new knowledge, develop new skills and, of course, make new and lasting friendships. From Crowthorne to Nantong, here is a glimpse of what our Wellington College and Hiba Academy children got up to this summer.

Wellington College
UK

A diverse group of pupils from Wellington College schools in China and Thailand convened at the iconic UK campus for a transformative two-week Summer School. Led by College staff and current pupil volunteers, the programme forged new friendships across the global Wellington community.

The daily schedule combined academic enrichment with personal development opportunities. Pupils attended captivating lessons spanning subjects like math, science, philosophy and computer science, as well as the newly introduced Lumi X Sustainability Course, which empowered them to explore pressing issues around sustainability and ethical AI.

Beyond the classroom, the programme offered abundant chances for the pupils to challenge themselves. Through the Global Social Leadership programme, they honed crucial skills, like collaboration and communication. They also engaged in sports, like badminton and real tennis, as well as indoor climbing and obstacle courses. Tapping into their creative sides, they participated in arts and crafts workshops, designing and painting their very own pottery pieces.

Immersive excursions to destinations like London, Oxford and the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard allowed the pupils to deeply connect with British culture and history. At Warner Bros. London Studio, pupils arrived at the eagerly anticipated 9¾ platform, boarded the express train to Hogwarts and began a magical journey through the world of Harry Potter. They even worked together in teams for an exhilarating rafting challenge at Hawley Lake. Through it all, these young Wellingtonians forged unforgettable memories and a stronger sense of belonging to the global Wellington community.
Summer School

Wellington College
Tianjin

Wellington College Tianjin provided an array of enriching activities for children to explore and develop new skills this summer. Immersed in the IPC English curriculum, pupils honed their language abilities through interactive lessons and lively discussions. The dance studios came alive with the graceful movements of ballroom dance and the rhythmic steps of Latin dance, as campers learned the art of self-expression through movement. The debating club fostered critical thinking and public speaking, equipping pupils with invaluable communication abilities.
In the Lego workshops, young minds engineered creative solutions, while the science labs ignited curiosity through hands-on experiments. Campers made a splash in the swimming pool and even had the chance to try SCUBA diving. And in the kitchens, they whipped up delicious dishes, learning cooking techniques from expert instructors. Throughout it all, pupils made new friends in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

Wellington College
Hangzhou

Wellington College Hangzhou crafted a one of a kind summer camp experience that covered three major themes: academics, sports and leadership. Children enjoyed challenging and fun curriculums tailored to each age group. They explored STEAM subjects, creative arts and English language skills. In addition to academic and artistic pursuits, there were opportunities for strengthening, conditioning and competing in sports like swimming, fencing and tennis.
They explored planetary motion, crafted cloud models, practised LEGO robotics and blended physics with classic LEGO. They learned how to deliver a compelling speech before an audience. They developed creative skills, crafting dyed t-shirts and writing Chinese poetry. They even got to learn how to cook, making pizzas and other tasty treats.

Hiba Academy
Nantong

Hiba Academy Nantong's one-week programme was purposefully designed to include a variety of Hiba's signature courses, ranging from wellbeing and English to Chinese, music, STEAM subjects, visual arts, swimming and many other sporting activities. Participants had the chance to experience the school's values and teaching philosophy as well.
For many of the campers, it was their first time living away from home. By immersing themselves in an authentic British boarding experience for the week, there were ample opportunities to learn independence and resilience as well as immerse themselves fully in Hiba Nantong’s bilingual learning environment.
Across the Wellington College Education group, these summer camp experiences allowed pupils to thrive, enjoy enrichment opportunities, make new friends, strengthen existing bonds and develop critical soft skills like confidence, resilience and independence. The global community of Wellingtonians came together to learn, grow and create lasting memories. We are confident they will begin this academic year energised and ready to be the best version of themselves.
