What a Fantastic First Term!

The Christmas spirit at Wellington College International Hangzhou continues to grow stronger. Last Thursday 12th December, all of our pupils presented “5 Gold Rings,” their fabulous Christmas musical made possible by three months of practices and rehearsals led by Mr. Perkinton. Parents, teachers, and community members gathered together at the Grand Theatre to watch our pupils perform on stage. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the festive atmosphere of the performance.

This week is the last week of the first term. Not only are we looking forward to our Christmas party on the last day of school, but we are also looking back on the past several months. During the whole school assembly on Monday 16th December, Ms. Richardson asked the pupils and teachers to name some of their highlights of the first term.

Some of the pupils mentioned their school trips, like Year 1’s trip to the Safari Park in early December and Year 2’s pizza-making trip last week.

Some of the pupils mentioned the skills they learned or personal achievements they made: one Year 3 pupil was proud to have written her first piece of poetry, a Year 4 pupil was excited to show Ms. Richardson her progress in painting and a Year 8 pupil shared his experience about participating in a swimming competition at Huili School Shanghai and winning three medals.

Other pupils mentioned some of the special activities and events that were held, including Maths Week, Sports Day, Halloween celebrations and Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

At Wellington College International Hangzhou, we hope pupils, teachers, parents and community members have enjoyed the close-knit Wellington community spirit fostered by this term’s activities and events. As Ms. Richardson often emphasizes, “Our international school is a vibrant, warm and welcoming place. Our core purpose is to deliver an engaging, values-driven, challenging curriculum through outstanding teaching and learning.’’

We wish all the Wellington community members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you in 2020.
