Thomas Carter

Before coming to Wellington International Shanghai, Thomas worked for three years at Wadebridge School in Cornwall, in the south-west of England. Thomas taught science across the three disciplines up to GCSE level and was head of the A-level chemistry program. His experience of different teaching environments has emphasised the importance of collaborative working relationships between staff, pupils and parents. He considers it a privilege to have arrived at Wellington College International Shanghai and instantly felt part of the strong and cohesive teaching team that exists here.

Thomas gained his Bachelor of Medical Science at Peninsula Medical School, and then went on to the University of Exeter where he was awarded his PGCE in secondary science with chemistry. Thomas is currently studying towards a Master of Arts Education through the University of Exeter. He is highly committed to his personal and professional development and relishes opportunities to develop it even further.

While living in Cornwall, Thomas took up pilot gig rowing and raced at the world championships for two consecutive years. Thomas also enjoys participating in triathlons in his spare time and can often be found running along the West Bund in the evenings. Thomas is a qualified ski instructor and worked for two years at Whistler Blackcomb in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, the biggest ski resort in North America.
