Matthew Corke graduated from Durham University in 2007 with a BA (Hons) in geography. Following this Matthew spent a year working in the City of London for the IT consultancy firm Accenture. Deciding that the corporate world wasn’t for him, he left and enjoyed nine months of adventure in East Africa, South East Asia and Norway. During this year, he secured a place on the Exeter University PGCE programme before being employed by Exeter School in Devon in 2010.
Aside from teaching, Matthew is a passionate white-water kayaker and has travelled extensively in pursuit of this hobby. Most recently in the summer of 2013, as part of an international team Matthew embarked on a 10-day, 330km self-supported trip through the heart of the Sayan Mountains in Siberia. It was a true privilege to be able to travel through such a beautiful area whilst paddling some world-class white-water. Complimenting this passion, Matthew is also a keen photographer; another reason why Shanghai will be a great place to be situated.
Matthew is very much looking forward to helping establish Wellington Shanghai as one of the premier international schools in the region, if not the world.
