Gareth Thomas

Gareth read computer science at the University of Wales, Swansea and then went on to gain an MEd and MA in education. At Swansea, he was taught by the internationally respected Professor Min Chen, now professor of scientific visualisation, University of Oxford. Gareth has strong industry experience, having previously worked as a web applications developer for one of the UK’s major high street banks.

After completing his PGCE, Gareth went on to work for seven years at the successful Olchfa School in Swansea, where, among others, he taught Eleanor Simmonds MBE, gold medal winning British Paralympian swimmer. He knows East Asia well, having also taught English, ICT and computing at universities in China and South Korea.

He enjoys sports, both playing and coaching, and has enjoyed many successes coaching football teams in district and national competitions. He previously coached the Welsh Under-14 champions in an international competition in Scotland, where they played against the champions from the other home countries. Gareth also enjoys skiing and has led several ski trips to resorts in Europe, North America and Asia.
