Wellington College China takes the best of its British heritage, tradition and values and fuses them with Chinese educational expertise and passion for learning. I am very inspired by Joy Qiao and her philosophy for international education. I love the idea of the best of the West and the best of the East being brought together in a multicultural school like the one I now teach in.
Having taught in the United Kingdom for eighteen years, and having brought up four children during that time, I thought I was content to remain a class teacher. Coming to Wellington College China has opened my eyes to the possibility of moving into leadership and developing my career. Within my first year here, I trained as a middle manager and am now moving into my first leadership position.
Living and working in China is a delight. Teachers are highly respected within Chinese culture, and my students are wonderfully engaged and motivated. Management have supported and encouraged me to develop professionally and I have enjoyed really strong relationships with my colleagues. My own four children also reap the benefits of a Wellington education and have been positively impacted by our immersion in Chinese culture.
