Joined Wellington College International Hangzhou in August 2019 I first found myself interested in joining Wellington College China when Irealised that the vision and values of the organisation aligned perfectly with my own. The commitment to achieving excellence was evident from the outset, and the organisation’s passion and drive to provide the highest quality education in all of their schools was exactly what I wanted to be part of. To be part of a growing school group also appealed to me, as I knew that there would be many exciting professional development opportunities.I joined Wellington College International Hangzhou in August 2019 as a Principal, and I have since been promoted to Master. The school’s commitment to professional development is the best I have experienced in any school. Wellington College China, as a group, is fully committed to developing their people and the vast range of professional development training available is testament to this.I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Wellington College China. I have gained so much experience, I have been challenged in my thinking, I have learned new skills and constantly felt supported in my role this year. The people within the organisation are friendly, welcoming and supportive and there is a strong, positive school culture.

Joined Wellington College International Tianjin in August 2015 I joined Wellington after 18 years of working in the public sector. I was impressed by the College’s educational philosophies and values as well as its diverse and international atmosphere. As someone who had worked in the same environment for many years, working at Wellington represented an opportunity for me to challenge myself. Throughout my time at Wellington, I’ve experienced a lot of professional growth and development. I’ve learned several new skills, like cross-cultural communication and how to integrate Chinese and Western teaching philosophies. Wellington has provided me with many group training opportunities and has even set me up with one-on-one coaching sessions to help enhance my leadership skills. I am grateful that the College has entrusted me with all my responsibilities and encouraged me to keep trying my best. I am also very grateful for the ongoing support from my colleagues, which has allowed me to grow together with the school. At Wellington, you will spend every day in laughter and happiness.

Joined Wellington College International Tianjin in August 2017 I was convinced that a move to Wellington was right for me after meeting the Master of Wellington College International Tianjin at a job fair in Shanghai. He talked about all the opportunities offered at the school, and it was immediately clear that this was a trusting and supportive environment. I knew that this would be a great opportunity for me to develop my skills as a teacher.A few weeks after I joined Wellington, I was put through a TESMC programme that helped me improve my provision for EAL students. In my second year, I studied for my PGCE at Durham University while still working full time. Last year, I organised a school safari trip to Kenya. I will be starting my new role as the coordinator of the science department’s KS3 program and junior school outreach when we go back to school in August.Joining Wellington three years ago was a big achievement for me. I worked hard and was encouraged to try new things, make mistakes and improve my teaching. The kids here are fantastic, and I particularly enjoy working with our scholars – some of the best students from local schools.

Joined Huili School Hangzhou in August 2018 After graduating from Harvard University, I was instantly drawn to the educational ethos of Wellington College China. The dynamic and creative curriculum sets a global standard for education. It combines the best elements of Eastern and Western education and empowers pupils to become competent global citizens. I cannot believe how much I have learned over the last two years. I have really enjoyed the collaborative workshops wherein teachers from Tianjin, Shanghai and Hangzhou meet and connect with each other. The Festival of Education was also brilliant! This year, I became a grade level leader, and the school has also offered me the opportunity to undergo middle leadership training in Shanghai. At Wellington College China, we take great pride in getting to know every one of our colleagues. At work, we learn from each other to create new, deeper understandings of education. As friends, we respect and celebrate difference and diversity. It’s a wonder-filled environment where educators make lifelong, global friends.
