BOARDING

“I’m surrounded by such an encouraging and positive space and it has pushed and convinced me that I need to try new things. The boarding house has not just benefited me but the others around me; they disciplined us and they supported us, just like a family would.”

Tiana, Year 8 (Hopetoun)

Boarding

Running parallel to academic development, our boarding experience is designed to offer the greatest opportunities possible for pupils to further their ability and interest in sports, music, drama and all forms of self-expression.

Our dedicated boarding staff members are based in The Hill boarding house itself. Their responsibilities are first and foremost to create a safe and supportive environment where our boarders can focus on their studies and self-improvement while also enjoying their free time to the fullest. Our expectation is to consistently maintain a boarding community characterised by togetherness, openness and positivity: a family atmosphere and a home away from home.

The Hill boarding house itself has been purpose-built to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment conducive to pupils’ academic and emotional wellbeing. All pupils are accommodated in spacious study-bedrooms, with individual desks and ample wardrobe and storage space. We have four and two-person bedrooms, as well as single en-suite rooms made available to our sixth form pupils. All boarders are allowed and encouraged to add their own personal touches to their rooms, in order to make it feel like home.

More information about boarding at Wellington can be found in the The Hill Brochure.

If you are interested in boarding you can contact Daniel Eldred, Head of Boarding at daniel.eldred@wellingtoncollege.cn or the Admissions team at admissions.shanghai@wellingtoncollege.cn.
