For Nathan, Confidence Was the Key to Cambridge
Nathan, Class of 2024, Wellington College International Shanghai, exudes clear thinking and quiet confidence when he talks about the natural sciences. He believes this is what set him apart from the competition when he applied for Cambridge, where he just completed his first year at Gonville and Caius College.

He has a strong connection to his alma mater. Looking back fondly on the events and activities he helped organise as a Deputy Head on the Pupil Leadership Team. He expresses gratitude for the guidance and support he got from his teachers. Whenever he can, he returns to Wellington to share his experiences with current pupils and to give something back as an alumnus.

We.Connect

Nathan’s interest in Cambridge began years ago after a chance visit to the city. The atmosphere and academic tradition inspired him to aim high. Now, having achieved his goal, he’s making the most of Cambridge life—exploring new ideas with the help of his tutors, spending time in the university’s historic libraries, and even getting involved in student theatre, a passion he first discovered at Wellington. Looking ahead, Nathan remains open-minded and calm about the future. He trusts that, in time, things will fall into place. For now, he’s focused on making the most of every opportunity as he continues to grow.
Here is Nathan in his own words,
sharing his Cambridge experience.
We call our graduates ‘Old Wellingtonians’ or OWs because, in our eyes, they never really leave us. Once a Wellingtonian, always a Wellingtonian. And it is in this spirit that we have launched We.Connect, a new alumni platform that brings the Wellington College Education (China) Community a wide range of benefits — from networking opportunities to mentorship programmes and so much more.
